Special Olympic adults with their medals

Looking to improve your athletic skills, have friendly, yet serious competitions, or try out a new sport? Look no further. Participants competing on SRACLC teams are active in Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Section (ITRS) competitions and Special Olympics Illinois games. The Crusaders may run on a different schedule than SRACLC traditional programs to meet deadlines established by Special Olympics Illinois.

SRACLC will no longer sponsor coaches to attend tournaments unless a minimum of four athletes are registered for Regional tournaments and a minimum of six athletes are registered for State tournaments. These individual sports include but are not limited to Bocce, Golf, and Tennis. Athletes may choose to attend these tournaments that don’t meet the minimum requirement independently with a coach provided by their family. All family designated coaches must be registered on the Special Olympics Center of Excellence online portal. Upon request, SRACLC will submit tournament entries on behalf of the athlete and their designated coach.

All parents/guardians and athletes must be registered on the Special Olympics Center of Excellence portal. This is how athlete health history will be submitted from now on. Paper Medical Forms will no longer be accepted. All athlete’s current Medical Forms will expire on December 1, 2025. This is a Special Olympics dictated procedure.

COE Training for Families

There are multiple steps to set-up your account. Parents/guardians must register themselves first. Then, go to “My Participants” and press “Add New Participants”. From there you will type in your athlete’s general information. After that, you will need to view “My Participants” again. Your athlete will now be listed. Press on their name so it will show their checklist of items that may still need to be completed. You must complete these items in order for your athlete to be eligible to compete in Special Olympics tournaments.
